ESL-Lab Listening practice
Hello everyone, today I will explain about ESL-Lab listening exercises. There are 3 difficulties, Intermediate, Difficult, and Very difficult. These 3 levels have different topics and I will explain from Intermediate to Very difficult.
Intermediate:
A TV News Report
Lists of new words:
- Miraculous (/mɪˈræk.jə.ləs/): very effective or surprising, or difficult to believe.
- Occurred: past simple and past participle of occur.
- Break out (/brāk-ˌau̇t/): a violent or forceful break from a restraining condition or situation.
- Evacuated: to discharge from the body as waste.
Difficult:
Homelessness
- Coverage: the reporting of a particular important event or subject.
- The outskirts: the areas that form the edge of a town or city.
- Quell: to stop something, especially by using force.
Very difficult
Battle at the front
Lists of new words:
- Stark: empty, simple, or obvious, especially without decoration or anything that is not necessary.
- Alleviate: to make something bad such as pain or problems less severe.
- Plight: an unpleasant condition, especially a serious, sad, or difficult one.
